Our Herbert Parkinson textile factory in Darwen, Lancashire, has been part of the John Lewis Partnership since 1953, and ever since it’s been a thriving example of UK design, quality and craftsmanship, with Partners investing pride back into the business they own.

What’s the role about?

As part of the Herbert Parkinson Management Team, you will be accountable for leading and managing a team of production managers to deliver the operational plan inline with budget assumptions. You will be responsible for all aspects of operational performance: production efficiency, achievement of SLA’s, Quality & performance management, within the Windows manufacturing business unit, contributing to the overall achievement of business KPIs.

This role is a fixed term contract until November 2023.

What will you be doing?

  • You will work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including the Planning team to deliver operational results inline with budget & Quality: to drive consistent levels of high Quality of finished products leaving the site.

  • Support the development of Strategic planning of operational capability - machinery, skills and process to drive our Lean, Simple, Fast ambitions.

  • Responsible for cascading strategic plans, sharing the vision & driving associated activities.

  • Develop & support Managers, Partners and team performance through the active use of coaching and mentoring from yourself and other stakeholders.

  • Promote a positive Health & Safety and Continuous Improvement culture, ensuring high standards of housekeeping are maintained.

What you’ll have

  • Experience of leading teams in a manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrable experience of translating strategic plans into operational business activities

  • Relevant experience in working in textile manufacturing

  • An understanding of lean manufacturing principles

What else could you bring?

  • Relevant experience in working in soft furnishings manufacturing

  • Demonstrable experience of lean manufacturing tools & techniques
