As a Senior Product Manager You Will
  • Understand the problem by working closely with stakeholders, users, technical, policy and operational experts to create and strengthen a product vision.
  • Own a problem area and lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver solutions iteratively and improve it through multiple delivery phases.
  • Develop and prioritise a product or portfolio roadmap and backlog, writing good user stories and making decisions based on data, up-to-date evidence and changing priorities.
  • Set measurable goals for your product and report against these to demonstrate progress against stated benefits.
  • Play an active role in the growing DfE product manager community as well as the cross-government product manager community.
  • Create a diverse, inclusive, supportive culture that stimulates innovation and enables high-performing teams to build and sustain high quality products.

    Essential Skills and Experience
  • Strategic Ownership: You focus on outcomes, not solutions and can develop an ambitious and compelling vision that describes the desired future state. You ensure that product strategy supports the organisation strategy, and can successfully communicate to get buy-in from the organisation, stakeholders and teams.
  • Agile working: You know how to coach and lead teams in Agile and Lean practices, determining the right approach for the team to take and evaluating this through the life of a product or service.
  • User focus: You are experienced in meeting the user needs across a variety of channels, and can apply strategic thinking to provide the best service for the end user.
  • Lifecycle Perspective: You know how to successfully lead teams through the full product life cycle, and can identify and deal with potential risks across or between all stages of the product life cycle.
  • Problem Ownership: You know how to anticipate problems and how to defend against them at the right time. You understand how the problem fits into the larger picture, and can build problem-solving capabilities in others.
  • Product Ownership: You know how to translate the product vision and strategy into an ambitious, prioritised and achievable backlog that meets user need and contributes to achieving the product’s vision and goals.
