Our client are a leading building materials manufacturer who specialise in roofing materials.

They are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join there team!!

Summary

You will design new innovations and products with improved performance specifications using CAD and simulation software for projects involving roofing products, systems and solutions. You will be liaising with suppliers on specialist equipment to support the manufacture of roofing products.

You will provide expertise to your Technical Center colleagues, Marketing and Supply Chain and support on company know-how to ensure products and key equipment are manufactured to specification.

Travel and work on-site globally, with the sales entity contacts and suppliers to agree, execute and implement value-adding solutions within time and resource budgets.

Global travel required 2-3 days at a time (Approx 2-3 times a month)

Responsibilities

  • Develop new innovations and products with improved performance specifications
  • To interpret design specifications correctly and produce designs acceptable to customers
  • Lead development projects in area of expertise
  • Ensuring compliance with Product Development protocols e.g. Standards, Company Quality system, Risk Assessment, Marketing Brief, Process Specifications, Validation Processes, Reporting Tools, ensuring consistency, quality and accuracy
  • Understand the role of the Department and the key commercial and manufacturing drivers of the business
  • To exchange relevant knowledge across all Technology departments and to manage key interaction between design and suppliers
  • Conduct or provide technical support for field tests to prove the suitability of designs produced
  • To keep abreast of technical developments in the relevant fields.
  • Working with University and Engineering companies contacts on projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Designer experience with a record in Product Design.
  • Degree in relevant STEM or Product Design equivalents.
  • Project Management and able to work in a team on various projects.
  • Be able to balance priorities with good time management.
  • Advanced CAD and simulation (e.g. CFD, FEA) skills / experience working with many materials.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and Google workspace etc..
  • Understanding of the processes involved in a design and production environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly when working on tight timescales.
  • Experience of working in the roofing sector is a desirable.
  • Having a working knowledge of one or more European languages would also be a desirable.
