The Role:

The Senior PR & Social Media Manager will play a key role in shaping the activities of the wider marketing team with a focus on developing and executing the PR strategy for the Highbourne Group as well as its major customer-facing brands; City Plumbing and The Bathroom Showroom. As our Senior PR and Social Media Manager, you will help to develop our external PR and Social Media channels. The Senior PR and Social Media Manager role will be pivotal in creating a coherent comms strategy for the Highborne Group. (Highbourne Group includes brands and businesses such as City Plumbing, Direct Heating Spares, Energy Efficiency National Shower Spares, Plumbnation, Plumbworld, The Bathroom Showroom, and The Underfloor Heating Store).

This is primarily a hybrid-based role with visits to our office at least once a week. You should be based in the UK and within commutable distance to our Head Office in Crick, Northamptonshire

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver a comprehensive PR strategy for the Group and its core brands which is aligned with the business’ broader strategic objectives and growth plans
  • Manage external agencies to drive cost-effective and powerful B2B, trade, and consumer campaigns through a wide range of channels including print, social, and digital
  • Manage the day-to-day press office for the Highbourne Group and City Plumbing; building strong relationships with key media and enhancing brand reputation
  • Develop paid for and organic social media strategies (as part of a wider integrated PR and marketing strategy)
  • Work with external agencies and the internal digital team to bring this strategy to life through compelling, creative, and engaging content that delivers results
  • Support the wider marketing team with trade shows, events, awards, and thought leadership content
  • Support media management, including drafting media releases, articles, and performing media outreach
  • Support and lead as required the senior management team in crisis preparedness, and in the event of a crisis
  • Ensure that PR is incorporated in marketing plans and budgets

Skills and competencies

  • Significant PR and social media experience – ideally both B2B and B2C - at Account Director or PR Manager level
  • Solid track record of building brands through strategic PR
  • Strong experience in developing creative social media strategies that are part of an integrated approach to PR and marketing
  • Extensive experience in managing external agencies
  • Experience in the retail, energy, or utilities sectors is a bonus
  • Outstanding communicator with a high attention to detail
  • Strong strategic thinking and influencing skills with experience of working with senior stakeholders in a corporate environment

It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: Communications Manager, Construction, Digital PR, Energy Industry, Internal Brand Manager, PR Manager, PR Strategy, Plumbing & Heating, Public Relations Manager, Retail Sector, SaaS, Senior PR Manager, Senior Social Media Manager, Social Media Manager, Utilities Industry.
