Tempting Recruitment are working alongside our client, a Local Authority, who are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to join their team based in the London area.
JOB DETAILS
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload (100+) of alleged breaches with the role including investigations, site visits, assessing matters against law and regulations and making recommendations. The role will also regularly require serving enforcement notices and evidence of notices personally served are welcomed with your application. The role is also responsible for writing appeal statements and, where necessary, representing the Council at hearing, inquiry or in court. Assistance, advice and support will be regularly provided by the team leader, deputy team leader, members of the team and other planning managers and ongoing training, upskilling and gaining experience through new challenges is encouraged.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
- Planning Enforcement: provide effective and responsive planning enforcement services on a mixed caseload of breaches, including large, complex and specialised types and issues and drafting serving enforcement notices.
- From a planning enforcement perspective, a good understanding of current issues and developments affecting planning, regeneration and local government in London.
- From a planning enforcement perspective, an understanding of main central government and development plan policy issues.
- From a planning enforcement perspective, an understanding of development management legislation.
- Contacts with members, MPs and professional consultants in relation to your workload where the content and outcome are not straightforward that will involve more detailed assessment and evaluation.
- Demonstrate high levels of creativity as a Planning Enforcement Officer in the workload you are responsible for.
- Demonstrate high levels autonomy in decision making as a Planning Enforcement Officer in the workload you are responsible for.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:
- An appropriate RTPI accredited postgraduate degree
- 2 years’ Development Management/Planning Enforcement experience
- Local Authority experience
