The Senior Planner – Component Maintenance & Warranty oversees the day-to-day running of the team and works to assist the Manager in delivering the team objectives. You will be responsible for the development and reporting of departmental performance indicators and delivering quantifiable cost savings against the repair budget, including maximising warranty opportunities. The role maintains the supervisory oversight of all VAA approved repair vendors and repair activity including those covered by repair contracts. The Senior Planner also identifies and implements continuous improvement ideas and initiatives within the team.


Day to day

SERVICE LEVELS– Identify and assist in negotiations to secure the best repair facilities available to meet the operational demands of VAA. Supervise and assist in the management of repair and overhaul services in the most cost effective and timely manner, from our approved vendors and pool partners and ensuring Virgin inventory levels are maximised.

VENDOR MANAGEMENT
- Supervise and assist in the management of the team in the operational performance of VAA approved repair vendors and pool partners through the tracking of targets and adherence to our contractual terms. Also ensuring all regulatory requirements are met. Performance improvement plans are applied as required.

COST OBJECTIVES
- Encourage a culture that identifies and actions costs savings, via quote review and challenge, vendor migration and in-source opportunities. Maximise and manage the warranty conditions offered by repair vendors and pool partners, ensuring the full potential of warranty entitlements are promoted to the business and reimbursed to the relevant budget line.

PROCESSES & PROCEDURES
- Promote and support a pro-active awareness of the teams responsibilities within the Department and instil the relevance of our performance against the objectives and goals of other departments. Ensure our Local Office Instructions are kept up-to-date and relevant, and the associated Engineering Departmental Procedures are readily available and understood by the team. Create and handle tracking for the teams’ core business for publication and reporting both internally and externally.

TEAM LEADERSHIP
- To train, mentor and support new and existing team members using standard process and leading by example, ensuring their objectives are met. Identify and adjust resource requirements to meet demand and continuously seek ways to work more efficiently looking at improved processes and eliminating duplication.


About you

Do you have airline (or similar industry) experience in materials management, especially within the area of component maintenance and warranties? If so, and you have the below experience and qualifications, we think you’d love this job!

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 subjects to include a good standard of English and Mathematics
  • You will have taken a relevant finance training course at an appropriate level for this post
  • Stage 4 Materials Management/Procurement NVQ or equivalent qualification
  • Contract Law training at an appropriate level
  • The ability to persuade and influence others based on facts and evidence
