Are you a Pharmacy Technician with a passion for Procurement?

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Pharmacy Technician to join us in providing a high quality, forward thinking Pharmacy Procurement Service at the Royal Gwent Hospital (RGH).

We’re looking for a Senior Pharmacy Technician with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead the procurement and invoicing team based at RGH. This role will include working with the other Senior Pharmacy Technicians both at RGH and across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) to deliver a high quality procurement and medication supply service to patients.

For this role we are looking for an inspirational Pharmacy Technician with ambitions of managing acute hospital pharmacy services. We are seeking a competent and motivated individual who will bring knowledge, enthusiasm and energy to the procurement team. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring we deliver a patient focused, high quality and efficient medication supply service.

The post holder will:
  • Lead, organise and manage the Pharmacy Procurement Service to wards and departments at RGH, working closely with the Principal Pharmacy Technician for Homecare and Procurement.
  • Manage the procurement and invoicing staff at RGH, taking responsibility for all elements of staff management.
  • Be responsible for the appropriate procurement and stock control of medicines.
  • Be responsible for the appropriate management of medication shortages including sourcing of alternative treatment options as directed by clinicians and specialist pharmacists.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Health Board, providing specialist support for to colleagues internal and external to pharmacy.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
