The Company:I am currently working on behalf of a very established IFA firm based in the Halifax area who are looking to add an experienced Paraplanner to their technical/report writing team. Having advised private clients for over 40 years now my client is a truly independent financial advice firm who adopt a personal, tailored approach to financial planning. They have a wide range of clients all over the UK with assets under management ranging from £100k to circa £5m per client; and they are now looking to expand their paraplanning team with an experienced hire, who can come in to support 2 very high performing financial advisers on a consultative basis.

The Role:As a Paraplanner within the business you would be working as part of a productive, high performing technical team to provide full support to the Advisers, and a technical port of call for all client queries. Your role would be to offer the most efficient, professional and effective client service possible with a high focus on quality and accuracy. Duties include:
  • Creating and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and management
  • Creating, implementing and maintaining any templates broadly used across the department
  • Working with the IFAs to identify new business opportunities within the existing client bank, accountancy practice clients and beyond to help maximise the potential of the department
  • Liaising with the advisors throughout the advice process
  • Providing portfolio and fund analysis reports to advisors prior to client meetings
  • Dealing with platforms and product providers to obtain information about existing and potential investments
  • Researching investments, fund options, pension transfers, retirement options, mortgages, life assurance and income protection (due diligence & buy lists)
  • Attending bimonthly departmental meetings and managing administration team meetings as required, minuting the meetings.
  • Attending courses when required and maintaining an adequate level of CPD to ensure compliance with FCA and professional body requirements and develop personal skills.
  • Representing and promoting the firm in formal and informal situations, attending seminars and networking events as a representative of the firm.

The Person:The successful candidate will ideally come from an IFA/wealth management background and must have experience of research and suitability report compilation. You will ideally 3+ years’ paraplanning experience working in a similar financial planning environment, and the QCF level 4 Diploma as a standard. Part-qualified qualified and developing paraplanners who are looking for a challenging role in support of some high performing financial advisers are also encouraged to apply, should they have hands-on practical experience of a paraplanning remit in a focused IFA/wealth management arena. A working knowledge of platforms such as O&M profiler, Iress exchange, F E Analytics, Old Mutual Wealth platform, Standard Life Wrap would also be beneficial.
