About The Role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Senior P-Way Site Manager to join our Rail team to work in Pontypridd, Wales.

Role Profile

Assist the Construction Manager in the planning and safe delivery Track Renewals work packages in compliance with the appropriate Network Rail Group and Line Standards and Safety Legislation within the agreed financial Contractual Allowables.

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior P-Way Site Manager, You Will
  • Be responsible for the detailed planning and execution of Track Renewals Works as allocated by the Construction Manager;
  • Be responsible for planning and directing the activities of Site Supervisors and track staff;
  • Hold Whiteboard / Stage Gate meetings in accordance with BB Track Renewals Procedure producing the required outputs to support effective and robust delivery of the works to completion;
  • Ensure agreed performance and other KRAs are met;
  • Ensure compliance with Contract allowables for all works;
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Safety Legislation and Welfare Regulations;
  • Be responsible for ensuring all works undertaken comply with contract specifications and Network Rail Group and Line Standards;
  • Be responsible for ensuring works are undertaken by competent staff;
  • Assist with the provision of technical support to the Senior Engineer and Construction Manager;
  • Ensure maximum utilisation of resources in delivery of all works;
  • Ensure all staff have the necessary skills and are competent to undertake all duties safely, efficiently and to Contract Specification;
  • Ensure all works are carried out safely in accordance with Rules, Regulations and appropriate Safety Legislation;
  • Participate in the planning and preparation of Track Renewal works;
  • Co-ordinate/Chair/Attend and record site meetings;
  • Produce status and progress reports on site works;
  • Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with the WPP and any deviations from programme timings are reported timorously;
  • Ensure track inspections are undertaken as stipulated in Network Rail Line Standards;
  • Undertake safety inspection as stipulated by BB procedures and Contract requirements;
  • Assist in the production of WPPs and Task Briefs;
  • Ensure appropriate Daily Work Returns (Planned v Actuals) are submitted timorously;
  • Undertake accident/incident investigations as required;
  • Ensure adequate provision of welfare facilities;
  • Procure tool, materials, small plant, lights etc for contracted works;
  • Participate in the Divisional Safety Briefing Programme;
  • Attend meetings as required;
  • Be On Call as required.

Who we’re looking for

Personal Qualities & Experience
  • Good in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Track Renewals Disciplines;
  • Excellent knowledge of Rules & Regulations, H.A.S.A.W and other appropriate regulations;
  • Excellent knowledge of both group and line standards;
  • Good IT skills;
  • Good communication and people management skills;
  • Full driving licence;
  • PTS and COSS.
