Senior Operations Manager – UK&I Talent Enablement

The Talent team has recently undergone a Talent transformation, reviewing our services and finding better ways to provide the services to the business from across the many Talent functional groups.

The opportunity

Part of building the Talent team is to ensure we monitor our service delivery and performance for the Business. With a focus on building operational excellence within the Talent function, the successful individual will be a valued member of the Enablement team who will thrive on building strong relationships.

The focus of the role will be on collaborating with the functions to drive and implement change and to improve and align the way Talent works with the Business. You will act as a conduit for the provision of Talent enablement operational service to the Business stakeholders and the Strategic Talent Leaders, setting up and establishing governance on measuring and improving the performance of the Talent function.

The successful applicant will be an experienced and highly motivated individual with a strong background in professional services and operational excellence – able to lead on our people agenda, operational agility and financial control activities. You will be comfortable with senior stakeholder conversations and bring different views to them to ensure their function is operating effectively.

On a day-to-day basis, you will work with the UK&I Talent Operational and Excellence Leader, the UK&I Enablement Leader, the UKI Enablement Virtual Talent Hub member and the functional or operational heads within Talent. You will also collaborate closely with other CBS functions as many of the initiatives cross over with Finance, Operations, Resourcing and Executive Management.

As part of continuous business improvement, you will also lead or contribute to initiatives that might be Cross Service Line (X-SL).

Key Responsibilities
  • Defining and embedding operational excellence across Talent
  • Financial Management, Planning and Operations:
  • Establishing governance and good practice to support the full business planning and budgeting cycle, working with Finance and Function and Operational leads within Talent, supporting to have oversight on their Talent budgets and resources.
  • Monitoring and forecasting financial performance against Plan/Outlook, reviewing KPIs to ensure variances are understood and confirming actions to address
  • Working with the Reporting & Analytics (R&A) team to help evolve MI for the Talent functional leaders and providing analytical insight
  • Work with the Enablement Operations VTH member supporting on the governance of Intake items into Talent.
  • Drive business improvement initiatives.
  • Driving adoption of alternative delivery models in line with Transformation agenda. Continually review where and how work is carried out, whether through automation, our Managed Services, Virtual Talent Hubs, or with third party vendors etc.
  • Impact assessment / implementation planning of key strategic initiatives
  • Work as a team to drive and upskill Talent on digital skills and better ways of working
  • Ensuring operational requirements are in place e.g. Business Continuity, also working with the TSS supporting on various risk and compliance initiatives

To qualify for the role, you must have
  • Experience in operational / service management roles
  • High personal integrity and emotional intelligence
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to challenge, confront and influence appropriately
  • Demonstrable experience in leadership in multi-disciplinary teams and unfamiliar environments
  • A high personal awareness and insight
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships across function areas and through layers of seniority
  • Good end to end Talent / HR knowledge
