We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the technical design engineering and construction management of projects across sectors including water, pharmaceuticals and defence amongst others, on a permanent staff basis in the Warrington area.


What does the job involve?

  • Develop preliminary Scope of Works into detailed engineering and design proposals including man-hour forecasts.
  • Management of the effective delivery of projects to time, quality and cost targets.
  • Manage and lead required Design subcontract management.
  • Carry out design in accordance with approved customer designs, procedures and standards.
  • Mechanical / Piping Equipment selection and specification.
  • Provide concept, developed and detailed design deliverables for mechanical pipework installations and associated mechanical services installations.
  • Undertake site surveys and support site installation and commissioning activities.
  • Undertake design reviews to validate compliance against technical standards & requirements.
  • Preparation of design calculations.
  • Fulfil ‘Designer’ Duty holder responsibilities as defined by the CDM regulations.
  • Actively involved in design process with input to the 3D CAD models and drawings.
  • Review pipework installation/fabrication quality assurance packs for conformity.

What skills and experience do you need?

  • HNC or Degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer or be working towards.
  • Strong experience in UK construction projects with working knowledge of CDM regulations.
  • Good understanding of design process & associated documentation.
  • Previous experience in the design of process pipework systems.
  • Knowledge of current standards and codes of practice including PED, PSSR, ATEX, etc.
  • Knowledge of HAZOP process.

What are the pay and benefits?

Circa £50K per annum (dependent on experience)
