Senior Manager - Protein Engineering

Hobson Prior are currently looking for a Senior Manager - Protein Engineering to join a fantastic pharmaceutical institution on a permanent basis located in Cambridge. Our client is focused on providing solutions in biotherapeutics and ADC drug development services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple client sponsored projects or studies in order to deliver in a timely fashion.
• Responsible for the scheduling work and for quality of their own and team members work.
• Independently design and carry out routine and complex experiments as necessary.
• Prepare and review reports and presentations and be responsible for the production of reports.
• Attend, contribute and, if necessary, lead internal and external meetings.
• Work with others to deliver cross-group and cross-site programmes.
• Deliver innovation.
• Effectively manage line reports and provide guidance and support associated with both their scientific and personal development.
• Draft and contribute to Quality and Controlled documents.
• Undertake any other duties relevant to the position and level.
• Contribute to group/company development effort.

• For this role, you will be proactive, malleable and self-governing, with a high level of autonomy and initiative.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills as well as a great attention to detail.

Requirements:

• A PhD (or a lower level of qualification and relevant experience) in molecular biology or similar area, with significant experience in biologics discovery & development in an industrial or commercial environment.
• In-depth practical research experience and understanding of biologics, and in particular, antibodies.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of protein engineering techniques (including humanisation, Fc engineering and affinity maturation), mammalian expression systems and protein purification and characterisation techniques.
• Knowledge with phage display technologies is highly advantageous.
• Experience of leading and successfully delivering client projects within timelines and budget.
• The ideal candidate will have confident IT skills, especially in using MS Office and DNA sequence analysis software (e.g. DNAStar Lasergene).
