Job Purpose

To provide legal support to the business in the areas of liability risk management and professional indemnity claims.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Providing accurate, relevant and timely advice on a variety of topics relating to the firm’s business and its services;
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements such as supplier agreements, confidentiality agreements, hold harmless letters, consultancy agreements, settlement agreements.
  • Managing and mitigating legal risks by applying the firm’s policies and procedures;
  • Reviewing contracts supplied by prospective clients, assisting in tender submissions and reviewing and advising on changes to the firm’s engagement letters;
  • Promoting legal and risk management best practice throughout the firm;
  • Communicating with and managing external counsel;
  • Designing and delivering legal training;
  • Staying up to date with changes to legislation that directly affect the firm’s business and industry;
  • Assisting in dealing with claims, complaints and regulatory investigations.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 10 years + PQE.
  • Experience in commercial matters, litigation and liability risk management - essential.
  • Senior position held within in house legal department in accountancy firm or financial services company - essential.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills are required together with the ability to work under time pressure and to deadlines.
  • Ensures client expectations and issues are understood, developing collaborative relationships.
  • Demonstrates good judgement – ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Analytical and opinion writing ability and problem solving.
  • Ability to advise on litigation/claims and to manage external lawyers where necessary
