Senior Legal & Compliance Counsel, Obesity

Are you a qualified lawyer with extensive experience of working within the pharmaceutical industry and looking for your next career move?

Do you have what it takes to navigate complex areas across both the private market and the NHS landscape, supporting our Obesity Business Unit (OBU) with legal and compliance expertise?

Working within a matrix environment you will act as an integral part of the UK Legal, Quality & Compliance department (LQC), reporting directly to our Senior Director of LQC within the UK affiliate. You will work extremely closely with the leaders in our OBU, providing wide ranging legal and compliance counsel. You will also be a member of the UK Obesity Management Team.

The Job
In this role you will provide high level, strategic advice to the Obesity team on a variety of legal and compliance matters, relating to ABPI code compliance, social media, interactions with HCPs, promotional material, data privacy, competition law, together with a variety of complex contractual scenarios.

You will work closely with the Senior Director of LQC in setting the strategic direction of managing legal and compliance risks in the OBU; liaising closely with senior legal colleagues at regional and HQ level, together with representing the UK affiliate in a wide range of international meetings.

Ensuring all OBU employees maintain an awareness of current legislation pertinent to their role, together with ongoing training in relation to legal, compliance and business ethics is a key element of this role.

This is an office-based position, where you will be required to spend three days per week onsite in our UK Head Office in Gatwick (post Covid restrictions). Some travel outside of the UK will be required.

Qualifications
We are looking for a qualified lawyer with extensive post qualification experience and a deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical sector. This may have been gained through a private practice law firm supporting companies within our sector, or from an in-house legal position within the industry.

You will have experience of providing advice on an industry code, such as the ABPI code, or the local code in another jurisdiction, and knowledge of international codes (such as the EFPIA code).
Experience of working in a global, matrix environment is also highly desirable.
