Senior Lecturer in AI-Driven Data Centre Sustainability (E&R) Job profile

This full-time role is available from September 2024 on a permanent basis.

The role

• Developing and delivering captivating lectures and seminars on topics pertinent to AI-driven data centre sustainability, such as energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, cooling systems optimization, and lifecycle assessment.
• Mentoring and guiding students in research projects aimed at pioneering sustainable solutions for data centres.
• Actively engaging in securing research income through grant applications and industry collaborations, advancing the department’s research agenda in Artificial Intelligence and data centre sustainability.
• Publishing high-quality research findings in reputable journals and conference proceedings, contributing to the academic discourse and driving innovation in sustainable computing.

• A PhD or equivalent in Computer Science and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research
• Demonstrated expertise in AI-driven data centre sustainability.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a genuine passion for teaching and mentorship.
• A strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrating potential to attract such funding.
• An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
• Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes
• Strong connections and funded projects with business and community partners
• Involvement in projects which develop impact
• A strong potential for research leadership
• A track record in refereed publications and success in significant grant capture
• Relationships with external organisations and funders/ and knowledge and experience of key sectors or business challenges
