Astrea Academy Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Senior HR Advisor to join their team!


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the HR Advisory Team as Senior HR Advisor. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team and play a key role in the continued development of our HR Advisory Service and delivery of the Trust’s People Strategy, with key focuses on wellbeing, leadership, and culture. As a Senior HR Advisor, you will join a well-established Advisory Team, coaching and supporting our HR Advisors, identifying improvements to our service, engaging with stakeholders across our 26 schools, and working closely on the planning and implementation of HR projects and initiatives.

Role Description

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist in the case management of complex employment situations
  • To coach and support HR Advisors, providing professional and practical advice and guidance to members of the team to support their personal and professional development
  • To support the performance management of complex employee relations cases and sickness absence cases being dealt with by the HR Advisory Team
  • To ensure that individual and team approach to advice, guidance and case management is in accordance with agreed policies, legislation and agreed standards
  • To actively participate in the identificaton, planning and implementation of projects and change programmes across the Trust
  • To monitor the progress of ongoing pojects, highlighting relevant areas to the HR Manager
  • To take ownership for delivery of assigned project tasks; identifying risks, considering best practice and current options, and making recommendations in the best interest of the project
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of HR systems, practices and SLAs
  • Proactively manages stakeholders, gaining engagement with Trust initiatives and working closely at all levels to identify areas of change.

Key Accountabilities

  • Actively manages and uses HR dashboard and management information to drive effective case management and HR Advisory engagement with Principals and SLT
  • Works collaboratively to develop workforce strategies based on academy needs, key priorities, and key workforce issues and profiles
  • Collates, analyses and interprets specific Trust-wide HR data reports and internal and external benchmarking to support effective people management aimed at increasing attendance at work, reducing sickness absence, and increasing retention
  • Strategically supports and provides guidance and input into workforce planning and reorganisations
  • Ensures consistency and, where applicable, compliance in all areas of people policy, process and management
  • Proactively gains key client feedback to aid HR function to improve service levels and inform new and ongoing project initiatives
  • To monitor day-to-day progress against project milestones and overall project objectives
  • Works alongside HR Manager to implement HR projects and initiatives in accordance with project cycles including monitoring, feedback and evaluation
  • Supports business focus and risk management of project, actively managing allocated tasks in line with the Trust’s strategic priorities
  • Undertakes benchmarking and research exercises within the sector, and uses networking opportunities to develop ideas and initiatives in support of the Trust’s objectives.
