Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager to join our Edinburgh finance team on a 12 month fixed term contract, to lead our Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivables (AR) teams. The role will lead a team of 6 people and report to the Group Financial Controller, based in London. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and a dynamic leader who has the ability to work autonomously as well as closely with others.

The role will also lead multiple process improvement projects predominantly across back office functions but with the potential for this to expand Whether that be process mapping and optimisation, the implementation of a new travel management tool or liaising with our banking partners to create efficiencies and streamline operations, there will be lots of opportunities to add value and enhance the outputs of the team.

Day-to-day management and control is naturally a core aspect of the role, but we are looking for someone who offers that extra bit more - someone who is able to stand back and assess the impact of commercial changes and consider what the impact will be. In addition, you will bring ideas about what ‘good’ looks like in terms of process, and seek opportunity to automate and improve wherever you can supported by our data and transformation teams.

Focusing on end to end control around our billing, credit control and supplier processes covering both our UK and International businesses. The ideal candidate will have great initiative and be able to consider ‘the big picture’. Brilliant prioritisation and being seen as a supportive manager will be absolutely key.

In our fast paced business, we add new revenue streams and suppliers all the time. As such, you will need to be able to build excellent relationships outside of finance to be able to identify changes before they happen, and build best in class processes to deal with these changes.

On one typical day, you will be there to provide support to the team but focus will be on helping troubleshoot problems and identifying areas for future improvement of processes. This will involve cross-functional working for example with our Edinburgh-based data specialists to help automate processes. Working in a rapidly growing business like ours, there is always a new challenge and opportunities to develop your skill set and turn your hand to new things.

Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant with 3+ years post qualified experience
  • Experience of managing back office functions desired but not essential
  • Excellent team management skills to support and encourage your direct team
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing processes for operational change and enhancing existing processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – particularly cross site
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to quickly re-prioritise and help a team to do the same
  • Naturally inquisitive and analytical mindset, be able to quickly grasp the fundamentals of complex systems and processes, explaining and presenting them to others is an easy to understand way
  • Comfortable working in a high transactional volume, multi-currency and multi national environment
