About The Role

RAC have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Finance Business Partner who can help to pro-actively drive and own the financial performance within the Consumer Roadside portfolio.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director and with responsibility for a small team of finance professionals, this strategic role will be responsible for planning, forecasting and reporting across RACs Acquisition, Products and Propositions division. You will have responsibility for advising on all aspects of financial management including commercial pricing, budgeting, financial analysis and insight as well as monthly and weekly reporting.

To be successful in this role you will bring experience of working in large, complex organisations with a passion for numbers and attention to detail. This combined with outstanding stakeholder management, challenging constructively when needed but seeing the bigger commercial picture, ensuring credibility and gravitas.

This is a hybrid role, working 2 days a week in the Bradley Stoke office


What will you do
Inform business leaders and their decision-making through commercial understanding of the business area you support, with emphasis on:
  • Revenues and key drivers
  • Costs and key drivers
  • Commercial terms

Develop, own and maintain a suite of reports that fulfil the needs of the Retention and Sales Ops teams, incorporating both volume and value measures across the RAC’s retention channels
  • Lead refresh of weekly trade outlooks
  • Understand performance drivers
  • Identify areas of under/over performance
  • Identify underlying performance
  • Draw out and highlight trends
  • Analyse results versus budget / prior years
  • Analyse key performance indicators and understand context of performance
  • Bring these reports to life for the wider Consumer teams through the addition of insightful commercial commentary in weekly / monthly trading and commercial review meetings
  • Engage in proactive analysis of business data and share findings appropriately
  • Ensure Retention and Sales Ops teams understand their reported numbers and impacts


Provide business area with effective financial insight, analysis and challenge
  • Understand performance drivers
  • Identify areas of under/over performance
  • Identify underlying performance
  • Draw out and highlight trends
  • Analyse results versus budget / prior years
  • Analyse key ratios

Support provision of financial appraisal and decision support
  • Understand commercial decisions being made
  • Perform required analysis e.g. Net Present Value, Cost Benefit, investment payback periods
  • Challenging and amending proposals
  • Strategies for de-risking investment

Understand and help shape the Group Strategy and Five Year Plan , and the specific short and medium term targets you are involved in influencing


Support the business area in developing annual budgets and forecasting
  • Clear assumption
  • Phased budgets
  • Obtaining budget sign off
  • Ensuring budget fully understood
  • Producing quarterly / ad hoc re-forecasts
  • Clear understanding of KPIs and performance against these

Effective and efficient accounting , producing timely and accurate numbers
  • Checking and challenge numbers
  • Understand tax treatments


Ensure financial controls operate effectively
  • Performing reconciliations
  • Timely, accurate month end cut off

Enforce standards and controls of Board, Group Finance and regulatory bodies

Deliver success through building and maintaining effective relationships and partnering disciplines

Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant with post qualification experience
  • Proven track record in leading a quasi-team
  • Excellent Financial Modelling Skills

  • Good understanding of relevant commercial disciplines
