Role Profile

Production of robust cost estimates to win new business to support the Balfour Beatty Rail regional business - Including major Rail Systems Projects and Frameworks

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Estimator, You Will
  • Ensure the proposal cost estimate is aligned with the proposal solution;
  • Ensure the proposal cost estimate is submitted on time;
  • Ensure proposal cost build up follows the Estimating procedures and is produced in CCS Candy estimating software;
  • Generate cost build up documentation to meet governance rules;
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of the tender documentation, the Client’s requirements/aspirations, and the required tender deliverables;
  • Determine proposal subcontract and material requirements, ensure that all necessary enquiries are secured via the Procurement department and check/validate enquiry returns;
  • Work with the proposal team to ensure the timely production of the cost estimate in accordance with both the proposal and corporate requirements;
  • Formulation of the proposal GE (General Expense) book;
  • Prepare review papers and summary documentation to achieve gate sign off prior to submission.

Who we’re looking for

Essential

Personal Qualities & Experience
  • Time management skills;
  • Financial and commercial knowledge;
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Estimating experience in the Civil Engineering / Infrastructure industry

Desirable
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts (ICE and NEC in particular) and competent in the use of CCS Candy estimating software;
  • Working knowledge of construction methodologies for a range of rail systems disciplines.
  • Estimating experience in multi-disciplinary rail system works
  • Formal qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction (ideally HNC or above)
