We work with soil, rock, groundwater and other man made materials to help ground truth and understand the site-specific engineering behaviour beneath our feet. What you’ll do:

Typically, you will be assigned a project by the Regional Operations or Projects Manager at the point of award. At this point you will discuss the project requirements with the commercial and operation teams, take charge of Client liaison and have ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the project is suitably planned and that key deliverables are met. You will produce SHEQ documentation, a fieldwork programme, testing schedules, invoices and the report. You will also be required to ensure both technical standards and commercials goals are met as such management of change, technical and commercial knowledge are key skills. You will of course be assisted along the way; each project will also have a designated site team and you will be supported by your colleagues from across the departments.

Depending on the scale of the projects you are likely to have numerous projects being carried out each at various stages and as a Senior Engineer your role will include mentoring and developing more junior members of the team.

What we’re looking for:

We are currently looking to recruit a knowledgeable, personable individual with over 6 years’ experience in ground investigation. Qualifications, experience and competencies should include:

  • Qualified to degree level in geology, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or similar.
  • Full UK Manual Driving License.
  • Well-rounded ground investigation experience gained from working in either a contracting or consultancy background. 
  • CSCS/SSSTS/SMSTS qualification.
  • Proven experience acting in a senior role with experience managing teams of people whilst promoting Health, Safety and Environmental good practise.
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate deliverables. 
  • Post-graduate experience in most aspects of Ground Investigation projects, including planning, commercial, and supervising, together with examples of applying standards and technical knowledge in projects. 
  • Good motivational, communication and people management skills  
  • Experience and understanding of the needs and approaches to ground investigation specialism markets, including relationships with clients, work planning and commercial management. 
  • Experience managing commercial aspects of projects. 
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate deliverables. 
  • Team player, self-starter and problem solver with a mature approach. 
  • Ability to work as part of a larger operations team.
  • Fully familiar with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc. 
  • Fully familiar with ground investigation database packages (OpenGround, Holebase etc.)
