Join a team of next generation thinkers.What To ExpectAn engineering role - responsible for numerous phases Pre , to , driving the design, development and validation of JLR’s cutting edge climate solutions.The main product of this role is the technical specification, development and delivery of cross portfolio components associated with Climate Control and Vehicle Interior Air Quality Systems.Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities- Benchmarking of competitor commodities for key aspects such as cost, weight, size, material composition, technology etc. Maintaining accurate, up to date and accessible information at all times.
- To develop design solutions to meet Programme, Vehicle and System requirements for Performance / Piece cost / Investment / Quality and Timing.
- Support (or Lead as required) programme meetings internally and with suppliers to ensure project activities are on track, as part of a closely-collaborative Matched Quad (Engineering/Purchase/Finance/Cost Engineering).
- Creation and application of FMEAs / GRADE / Requirements Management and DVP for commodities.
- Managing relevant engineering parts lists (Bill of Material) and lead design changes through JLR process.
- Management of technical engagement with relevant suppliers from Sourcing through to PSW.
- Implementation and resolution of engineering issues and change management with other engineers and suppliers.
- Contribute to the negotiation and agreement of targets for relevant systems and components
- Ensure all relevant deliverables are monitored and delivered accurately and on time at each gateway.
- A technical background highly relevant to climate commodities and an eagerness to develop this further.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills. Must be willing to communicate face to face and show engineering curiosity and enthusiasm.
- Detailed understanding of automotive product development and specifically delivery of climate systems.
- Experience of working with remote suppliers and team members.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience and competence in the use of the engineering toolsets for geometry, and requirements management
- Broad knowledge of vehicle engineering systems and cross functional experience.
- Knowledge of LIN, CAN or similar network solutions.
- Experience of problem solving tools e.g. Root Cause Analysis & disciplines of problem solving.
- Good working knowledge of JLR Product development systems and processes.
- IT package elements JIRA, Confluence, Project, Power Point, Excel & Word.
