At MK MHST we work with young people with mild to moderate mental health presentations in schools.

This is an exciting opportunity in a developing innovative service. The post holder will be responsible for delivering interventions within a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in identified schools and colleges in the central areas of Milton Keynes and the supervisor for the supervision of Education Mental Health Practitioners in the team.

You will be a qualified Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) or Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) and ideally will have successfully completed the PG Certificate in Supervision for Children and Young People’s Services. You will have previous consolidated post graduate experience of working with young people with emotional and mental health issues; and extensive experience of delivering evidenced-based CBT interventions for mild to moderate mental health issues such as anxiety, low mood and behavioural problems to CYP both individually and in groups.

The Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner (Senior EMHP) will be expected to work in schools closely with school staff to support CYP, their families and staff to foster a whole school approach to mental well-being.

This role requires flexibility and adaptability and above all, a passion for working with children and young people with mental health difficulties within an educational context.

Applicants who have not yet completed the PG Certificate in Supervision for Children and Young People’s Services (CBT/PT/EMHP/CWP/CYPWP) or equivalent, will be required to successfully undertake the training at the earliest opportunity. Other service specific training in range pf evidence based therapeutic modalities is also available

The Education Mental Health Practitioner will be responsible for delivering interventions within Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in schools and colleges, whilst receiving clinical supervision and be expected to work in schools closely with school staff to support CYP, their families and staff to foster a whole school approach to mental well-being.
