The Role

Quotient Sciences are expanding rapidly, with a clear commitment to drug substance development and manufacture and have recently announced a $8m investment in a new kilo lab facility which will be fully operational in 2022. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Director of Operations to work within the Senior Leadership Team at our Alnwick facility

Summary of job

  • Lead, engage, develop and coach Operations teams to deliver successfully on customer projects
  • Work closely with global leaders to deliver Quotient’s operational strategy and operational business objectives
  • Develop and maintain an operational capacity plan that underpins the 3-year business plan that matches growth aspirations, that is used to drive investment decisions
  • Ensure Quotient delivers its targeted EBITDA through the operational delivery of a relevant service, to the relevant customers, at an appropriate price
  • To lead the strategic operational projects for the site

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the yearly gross margin target for Operations
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring of the Operations teams to ensure appropriate development and succession planning of the team
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure first class operational delivery and service.
  • Drive harmonization activities to ensure a one business, one experience for customers
  • Develop a capital expenditure plan to meet the Operational growth needs
  • Engage with Business Development and commercial teams to support new project opportunities and triage appropriately.
  • Develop, maintain and publicise monthly metrics demonstrating the above
  • Ensure adequate recruitment, training and employee development is in place to maintain a highly motivated, skilled and effective workforce, ensuring the needs of the business are met
  • Drive continuous improvements throughout all operations to deliver efficiencies and enhanced compliance standards
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes and ensure Quotient processes remain compliant with emerging regulatory needs
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in line with the necessary health & safety, legal, financial, quality and regulatory compliance requirements, in accordance with company and external guidelines and SOP’s
  • Ensure Quotient’s manifesto, behaviors and ‘The Quotientness of Quotient’ (Science, Agility and Culture) is embedded, lived and evolved
  • Achieve high levels of performance and engagement through inspirational and authentic leadership by providing leadership, coaching and mentoring to ensure appropriate development and succession planning.
  • Work with the People Function, Compliance, IT and Facilities (and other related functions) to ensure site and functional objectives are met and to facilitate the running of Quotient Sciences Alnwick site
  • Create a collaborative, inclusive and engaging culture where everyone has the opportunity to achieve their potential and develop their career within Quotient
  • Achieve high levels of performance and engagement through inspirational and authentic leadership
  • Develop robust talent and succession pipelines to develop and retain key talent and deliver business objectives
  • Drive transformation and continuous improvements within Alnwick to improve operational efficiencies and compliance standards
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes and ensure Quotient processes remain compliant with emerging regulatory needs
  • Stay ahead of market developments, anticipate challenges and adapt business plans appropriately
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by developing and implementing integrated operational delivery offerings to ensure Quotient remains competitive in commercial landscape

Qualifications

  • STEM based first degree, preferably with higher degree e.g. MBA
  • Significant senior experience working with Drug Substance development and scale up.
  • Significant senior experience in operations management in the process industries; preferably pharmaceuticals, preferably offering services
  • Significant senior experience working with customers, commercial, finance, HR and compliance teams.
  • Significant direct experience and track record of delivering exceptional business growth.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop colleagues across locations globally
  • Proven capability for defining and monitoring relevant metrics and driving improvements to ensure first class operational performance
