The role will be based in either GSK House or Stevenage in the UK, or Navy Yard, PA in the US.

The Senior Director Digital Innovation role leads a team of innovation practitioners to develop and deliver material and educational offerings designed to inspire and grow innovation capabilities across Tech and GSK.

This role works directly with the VP Digital Innovation and Beyond and the senior members of the team to develop and align strategic communications and engagements with the needs of the broader innovation ecosystem. The Senior Director Digital Innovation works directly with senior/executive leaders throughout GSK to facilitate the introduction and adoption of innovation capabilities.

This is a fully global role which collaborates with colleagues in all markets as well as at an array of stakeholders, both in-house and external. This means you’ll work with a diverse group of people, both functionally and culturally, developing a vast personal network as well as global capability. You will have a wide-ranging scope, alongside considerable responsibility and accountability for leading the direction of digital healthcare, meaning you’ll be very visible in organisational leadership, and also make a genuine personal impact on the future of GSK.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Directs the research, design, build, and deployment modelling/product development of innovation leadership, practitioner and communications capabilities
  • Works directly with the senior members of Digital Innovation to support the execution of the strategic innovation portfolio.
  • Along with the VP Digital Innovation and Principal Beyond Operations & Support works with senior/executive leaders across GSK to facilitate the creation and delivery of inspirational and educational innovation capability offerings
  • Accountable for the quality of Digital Innovation and Beyond delivered inspirational and educational innovation capability offerings
  • Accountable for assessing current and emerging innovation capabilities and developing a working roadmap to support the needs of the broader innovation ecosystem
  • Accountable for the socialization of current and emerging innovation capability needs with senior Tech and Digital leadership

About You

This position requires technical knowledge, but also significant interpersonal and communication ability. We are looking for someone who can work effectively across boundaries – both cultural and functional. This international role requires partnership with other business areas, companies and countries, meaning a flexible communication style and astute cultural awareness are highly valued. You’ll be a direct manager, inspiring change and bringing people together, so leadership capability is a must. As a key member of the digital innovation organisation, we need a natural influencer, someone who is in inquisitive and collaborative. You will be lead initiatives and projects, naturally taking colleagues and peers on the journey with you.

Required Qualifications And Experience
  • Degree qualified in Computer Science or other similar technology-based field
  • Strong leadership, influencing and communication skills
  • Engagement with executive leadership and strategic decision making
  • Leading technical teams in the identification, design, development and testing of digital innovation capabilities
  • Identification and evaluation of emerging trends and technologies
  • Ability to analyze complex situations.

Preferred Qualifications And Experience
  • Expertise in taking digital technology forward in a regulated industry
  • Masters, or other higher-level qualifications in a relevant field (Business Strategy)
  • Familiarity with startups / VCs and incubators would be advantages
  • Experience of demonstrating change within a corporate environment.

The Senior Director, Digital Innovation & Beyond will evaluate and plan how to approach capability challenges around innovation ideas that may be required in the next 2-5 years. As such, a breadth of knowledge around current and emerging innovation capabilities is necessary, as well functional/organizational depth to quickly assess and provide direction on how best to pursue.
