Job description

We are looking for a senior digital experience manager to join the digital content and platforms team, which is part of the communications division. We work to clearly explain and engage people in the development of the department’s policies. Our mission is to put the user at the heart of our work and to deliver consultations, content for GOV.UK and our online platforms such as email that meet the needs of our users.

Working in partnership with the head of the team and digital product development officer, the successful candidate will be at the forefront of our innovative work to open up the department’s consultations to a wider audience and make them as accessible as possible. Alongside the team you will be responsible for planning and delivering our upcoming consultation work, ensuring user focus and supporting evaluation. This role will also serve as analytics lead.

In addition this role is intended to support the Senior Content Design Manager in the delivery of our GOV.UK responsibilities. They will ensure content is user-focused, accessible and consistently meets publishing standards.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with policy teams and other digital colleagues to establish objectives and target audiences for our consultations.
  • Planning and delivering consultations which engage our target audiences, setting targets and adapting approaches based on results.
  • Maintain a forward plan of upcoming consultation work and development of a strategy to support them.
  • Striving to continuously innovate and improve our consultation and campaign platforms.
  • Acting as an advocate for user needs and opening up government policy both within the department and across government.
  • Use of analytics to support evaluation

We need someone who:

  • has demonstrable experience of engaging with different audiences online via consultations or similar methods
  • has experience of working with data and planning work based on results
  • is confident managing their own projects as well as working collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders
  • understands how to gather user needs and the importance of putting the user first
  • can translate complex ideas into clear and simple writing
  • can work with suppliers to improve our digital tools as required
  • has excellent writing and editorial skills
