Senior Development Engineer (Pipelines)

Contract duration - 6 months

Location - West Dunbartonshire

Senior Development Engineer is required to work on product design improvements associated with the client’s product range such as the polymer liner system design, weld procedure specifications and manufacturing specifications for all components.

Core responsibilities are to devise a clear project plan including a scope and schedule for identifying and implementing the required design changes to improve the overall efficiency and accuracy of the polymer liner system design. This will also involve producing a procedure to capture the process for ongoing continuous improvements.

Lead continuous improvement activities, associated with updating engineering design processes including the management and analysis of data from qualification testing and site production.
  • Design, test and evaluate theoretical designs using engineering principles and techniques.
  • Ensure all new and existing products are developed to the required quality requirements whilst considering customer requirements, risk, operational needs, reliability, and function.
  • Under limited supervision, independently evaluate, organise, and prioritise workload.
  • When required, train / mentor engineering colleagues within the department
Essential
  • Engineering Degree with established role relevant experience.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of basic engineering principles.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and highly skilled with MS Excel.
Desirable
  • An MSc in engineering or chartered engineering status.
  • Good understanding of polymer materials and their properties.
  • Experience of working with polymer materials in engineering applications.
  • Good working knowledge of CAD tools i.e. Solidworks, AutoCAD Mechanical, BricsCAD.
  • Software programming languages (Java, Python, C++). This is highly desirable.
  • Technical knowledge of rigid pipeline fabrication and pipelay.
