INRIX are looking for a Data Scientist (or Senior depending on experience) to work with them at the data science (DS) office in Altrincham, Manchester. INRIX is a pioneering and creative company, working in the real time measurement and prediction space providing insight into population movement.

Your role will be to help deliver the next generation of traffic insight tools, driving the development of our theoretical work, enabling delivery from scientific specification to real world implementation. You will be integral in delivering the highest quality insights to consumers world-wide.

Our customers consume our insight in one of a few means. Including, as a data stream from APIs, or through our newly established SaaS (Software as a Service) platform.

Key Responsibilities: *

  • Develop innovative algorithmic tools that add value to our data products.

  • Doing so by:
  • Working with stakeholders across the business to define requirements.
  • Handling very large datasets describing the movement of populations.
  • Solving complex mathematical and statistical problems.
  • Developing high quality, low latency models (ML, statistical, algorithmic).
  • Deriving value and insight from data through ground-breaking visualisations.
  • Communicate findings and solutions to mixed audiences, both internal and external customers.
  • Pioneer the use of emerging data science and machine learning techniques and technologies to ensure best practice within the business.

What We Are Looking For: *
Required:

  • A creative and inquiring mind with considerable problem-solving ability.
  • An excellent grasp of advanced mathematic concepts related to DS (e.g. Linear Algebra, Statistics).
  • Experience building ML that has been tested in a real-world setting (production/research).
  • An excellent grasp of DS concepts with emphasis on modern ML techniques (DL, RL, GNN, Computer Vision).
  • The ability to work effectively in a team, take and give advice where necessary.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work concurrently on multiple projects.
  • An advanced degree in a subject with significant statistical or mathematical content or demonstrable technical strength through experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in scientific computing (Python a bonus).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Highly Desirable: *

  • Experience of manipulating exceptionally large datasets, preferably using Spark or SQL.
  • Experience accessing and processing structured and unstructured data in AWS.
  • Exceptionally good written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Understanding of how to create effective visualisations from data.
