About The Role

A hands on Data Test role where you will lead a test squad within the unit, comprising of other test engineers and delivering a programme of work alongside a larger a multi-disciplinary team of skilled individuals. You will drive the test engineering capability of the squad, by providing technical leadership, mentoring, coaching, and career development, while performing testing within an agile delivery team.

You will develop our internal capability by shaping careers paths and recruiting and nurturing talent within the organisation. Responsible for implementing the Test Strategy for manual and automated testing of ETL workflows or API’s and digital services with a view to maximise automation testing.

You will contribute to the Testing Community across the department and deliver our strategic vision by building and maintaining strong links with other Test Engineers across other Government departments, to influence standard methodology and share insights.

Responsibilities

About you - Essential Criteria

We are looking for someone to show these essential skills of:
  • Writing complex queries in SQL
  • Experience in data testing in Azure DataBricks, DataFactory or an ETL tool such as Informatica DEI
  • Exposure to Informatica Axon/EDC
  • Hands on tester with management experience in a data environment with the ability to motivate individuals to deliver user excellence using highly developed interpersonal communication skills.
  • You will have agile skills and be able to build up and amend delivery processes to ensure that an Agile Methodology is followed to increase quality.
  • Setting up test engineering development processes from scratch or implementing large changes and continuous improvement to existing processes within an organisation
  • Exposure to design and executing a range of non-functional testing techniques (including Performance, Accessibility, and Security)
  • The ability to communicate test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • You can identify defects, alerting the business to them, and you can help prioritise them based on defect severity.
  • Exposure to automated test frameworks for Digital services and API’s in Selenium, Gherkin/cucumber, Postman or similar using C#
  • Building dashboards to report on the test status across a DevOps CI delivery structure.
