We are working with United Utilities to recruit a Senior Data Analyst to work within their Bioresource Production Planning team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company named as one of the Best Places to Work in 2020 by Glassdoor. The role is a 6-month contract initially, with the opportunity for this to be extended and the possibility to explore permanent roles within the department and wider business. Working 37 hours per week, this is a full-time position based on-site at United Utilities’ Shell Green site in Widnes.

The role involves supporting the delivery of the Bioresource Production Planning team’s hub data capability, and delivering the regional dashboards and data analytics.

Job Accountabilities

  • Develop and manage analytical tools for BE&C (Bioresources, Energy & Carbon) to support business planning and cost mitigation e.g., regional dashboards for operational use
  • Develop and maintain data quality/governance procedures to ensure accuracy of input data
  • Oversee the production of reporting for Bioresources- reporting on KPIs and tailoring the visuals for each audience
  • Mange the implementation of logistical and planning data from Exasol into Tableau.
  • Lead day to day interface with key stakeholders for data management, e.g., central data reporting team
  • Manage the day-to-day actions and work with the Central Data Reporting (CDT) to develop data management inputs to corporate systems to enable reporting via Exasol in Tableau.
  • Work with wider stakeholders, e.g., water and wastewater data owners to facilitate integrated data for reporting
  • Set up and manage the monitoring and actions to maintain data quality for energy and bioresources
  • Define and manage data quality needs and undertake remedial actions to maintain data sets
  • Develop new reporting and analysis requirements and approaches - Maintain good working knowledge of corporate reporting and analytics systems to enable their application to BE&C needs

Knowledge and Skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel – intermediate/advanced level
  • Experience with Tableau dashboards and previous use of Exasol – or other data warehousing software
  • Excellent attention to detail and track record of demonstrating high standards of accuracy.
  • Distinctive problem solving and numerical skills with a high degree of analytical rigour and keen attention to detail.
  • Proven track record in data manipulation and interpretation
  • Experience in a utilities or similar industry
