DWP. Digital with Purpose.

DWP is the UK’s biggest government department. Over 22 million people access our services every day, and around 100,000 people work to provide the support, benefits and advice they need. And we’re currently taking on a generational digital transformation that is changing how we deliver for our users.

We’re driven by an extraordinary purpose. Collectively working on projects of incredible scale, we’re transforming the products and services we deliver to make them better for the people who need them.

Design. Work. Projects.

The core purpose of our content designers is to focus on user needs:
  • to make complex information and processes easy to understand and follow, and
  • to help the government achieve the intended outcomes of its policies.

You’ll join the Citizen Information team, where our services are used across DWP and beyond, so you’ll be leading on cross-government content projects and engaging with the wider government content community.

We want to make it easier and more efficient to share data so we can help to improve the accuracy of benefits assessments.

You’ll work primarily on the Care Homes Information service, helping people who need to tell government about a care home placement, making things a little easier for them at a difficult time.

We need you to map and write user stories and be responsible for content quality, including reviewing the work of others, mentoring content designers and managing small teams.

Details. Wages. Perks.

You’ll join our team based at our digital hub in Newcastle.

In return for your skills, we offer salary up to £59,589 per annum.

You’ll also get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions up to 27%, plus a generous leave package starting at 26 days, rising over time to 30 days (based on your working pattern), plus family friendly flexible working arrangements, such as hybrid working, job sharing, term-time working, flexitime and compressed hours.

We also have a broad benefits package built around your work-life balance which includes:
  • Time off volunteering and charitable giving
  • Learning and development tailored to your role, including industry recognised qualifications, coaching and mentoring
  • Discounts and savings on shopping, fun days out and more
  • Interest-free loans to buy a bike or a season ticket
  • Sports and social activities
  • An inclusive and diverse environment with opportunities to join staff networks including Women’s Network, National Race Network, National Disability Network (THRIVE) and many more
