As a Senior Consultant, you will engage in customer-facing work focused on the delivery of the VMware Carbon Black portfolio of products. These technologies are helping modernize our ability to secure applications while prioritizing access and clarity.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • The Carbon Black Senior Consultant will focus on successfully delivering services on the Carbon Black portfolio of products (after initial trainings that we will provide to you) , a software platform for securing infrastructure workloads and endpoints across the enterprise. This task will be accomplished through your technical expertise and leadership skills.
  • You will use your in-depth knowledge of VMware products including vSphere and NSX along with your experience in VMware Carbon Black design and implementation to become a trusted advisor to your customers and colleagues while maintaining subject matter expertise in the innovative and fast-moving Security field.
  • You will work directly with our customers and other team members on the day-to-day activities involved with the post-sales implementation of VMware Carbon Black. This includes customer’s challenges, business and technical requirements, proposing and designing solutions, creating roll-out plans, delivery, and testing the platform.
  • Within 60 days of employment, you will be able to leverage your knowledge of Public Cloud Infrastructures (such as AWS and Google Cloud), virtualization, and VMware technology to make security transformation possible.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Conduct your Security consulting engagements per VMware’s Consulting Methodology (Plan, Execute, Test, Document, Knowledge Transfer)
  • Provide feedback on existing documentation and assist in the continuous improvement of consulting tools and knowledge
  • Communicate across several levels of the customer’s hierarchy using your outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Create Intellectual Property and custom artifacts with an innovative mindset

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The hiring manager for this role is Alan Howland, Director, Emerging Technology Practice (EMEA PS). His expertise has been built from the frontlines with roles in technical solutions consultancy, architecture and consulting management, most recently leading the Emerging Technology Practice for the EMEA team for the past two years.

Alan’s management style is about giving everyone on the team space and encouragement to be independent thinkers and not feel like he is looking over their shoulder. Alan looks for energetic individuals who can think out-of-the-box and contribute to the culture and success of our amazing team.

The core Security Team within the broader Northern EMEA team is made up of 7 Senior Consultants in close partnership with the Project Management team – and is growing fast. The team works flexible hours, arranging schedules to fit theirs and their customers’ needs, taking into consideration weekly team calls and their own personal development.

Where is this role located?

Flexible: The location of this role is flexible within the UK. Work will be done from an office some days during a week and other days from a non-VMware building.
