Are you an experienced Civil Engineer who has worked on the delivery of water engineering projects, either in design or construction? We have exciting career roles for Senior Civil Engineers in our established Water team, with a flexible base across Wales or the South West of England.

You will be working with our multi-disciplinary team that delivers projects throughout the design and delivery cycle, making technical decisions in various stages of water and wastewater utility projects including in feasibility studies, optioneering, detailed designs, asset assessments and construction supervision. We are interested in candidates who can support in one or more of these areas.

The Team:
You will join our technical discipline team and wider technical practice network, enabling you to build your knowledge, skills and career with like-minded engineers globally.

Our Water team has delivered some of the most high-profile projects in the UK, so your projects and clients will be varied and interesting. Examples of our current projects and clients:

+ Welsh Water – AECOM has a well-established framework to provide NEC Supervisor support across the entirety of the Capital Delivery programme, spanning all types of raw water, potable water and wastewater projects. We are also Lead Supplier on part of the Asset Management Framework, which has quickly grown to include a diverse range of projects.

+ Wessex Water – AECOM has been appointed on several AMP7 frameworks, notably the Capital Delivery framework where we deliver detailed design of production and treatment schemes.

+ Severn Trent Water – AECOM has been appointed on major schemes Lot 1 of Severn Trent Water’s new Design Services Framework for AMP7. Our portfolio of projects is building rapidly.

The Role:
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will work closely with colleagues both in our local team and nationwide. You will be expected to deliver a high calibre of technical quality and interface with clients, contractors and key stakeholders. You will be tasked with delivering to agreed budget, programme and quality along with supporting the preparation of project budgets & programmes. We will encourage you to innovate and trial new methods, and be inquisitive by nature.

You will be expected to:
+ Be responsible for delivery of specific elements of the project scope in accordance with agreed upon budget and programme.

+ Have working knowledge of relevant specifications and standards.

+ Be familiar with best-practice quality assurance procedures and actively seek to deliver high quality work.

+ Gather and correlate engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

+ Propose approaches to solve problems encountered, referencing standard procedures, past experience and innovative approaches.

+ Provide technical support to the project teams including checking of work and identifying discrepancies in designs & specifications.

+ Act as client’s representative during scheme construction to provide assurance of the finished quality of new assets.

+ Provide guidance to entry level engineers including mentoring team members to promote their technical and professional development.

Minimum Requirements

+ Relevant experience of working as a civil engineer at Engineer or a Senior Engineer level within the water industry, to include design or delivery of raw water, treatment and/or networks projects.

+ Ability to take full responsibility for producing, checking and approving technical deliverables.

+ Understanding of constructability and operability requirements within design, either from experience of working in construction or through providing support to schemes during construction.

+ Proven experience of developing good working relationship with colleagues, clients, contractors, key stakeholders and the supply chain.

+ Ability to deliver project work to programme, cost and quality requirements.

+ An enthusiastic and collaborative approach to your work, demonstrating the relevant behaviours and work ethos to solve client and project problems.

+ Value and contribute to a strong Health and Safety culture.

Preferred Qualifications

Desirable Skills & Experience:
+ Experience working for or with contractors in a design and build environment.

+ Experience working in a digital delivery environment using BIM and other proprietary software products.

+ Project management experience.

+ Industry recognised Health and Safety qualification.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Degree in Civil Engineering, or related discipline, or commensurate combination of experience and qualifications.

+ Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or be actively working towards this status.
