OUR VALUES IN ACTION

Care and Compassion Quality and Teamwork Dignity and Respect Openness, honesty and responsibility

We are currently looking for a Band 7 Senior Charge Nurse to join one of our Community Hospitals.

Kelso Community Hospital is one of 4 Community Hospitals within NHS Borders and consists of a 23 bedded inpatient unit and a day hospital. We provide care for community patients requiring rehabilitation, reablement, episodes of care following an acute or complex health need and end of life care. We aim to ensure that admission and discharge plans for individual patients will be safe, person centred, appropriate and to maximise independence, allowing the patient to move on to their own home, other homely setting/intermediate care as soon as possible.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to ensuring all our patients receive the highest quality of care in a safe and secure environment. Although working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will make autonomous clinical and professional decisions on a daily basis. As Senior Charge Nurse you will provide effective leadership, operational management and organisational development within community services. You will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager, Service Manager and Multi-Disciplinary team to develop services that are highly functioning, fit for purpose and provide an excellent standard of care. You must have a proven record of effective change management.

It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal skills, communication and problem solving skills. You must be assertive and articulate with the ability to remain calm under pressure. You should pose excellent organisational and time management skills.

You should also have in depth knowledge of Healthcare Improvement Scotland, Standards for Older Persons in Acute Hospitals and demonstrate an understanding of how these shape the care provided to our patients.

This opportunity provides the ideal chance to utilise your managerial skills while supporting the ward clinically to provide a first class service. You must also have a passion for excellence and be able to demonstrate the ability to take the lead and have pride in your team and ward environment.

You will be working a 37.5 hour week on 5 days out of 7 rotations, but also be expected to cover for absent staff as necessary.

For an informal discussion or further questions please contact Andrea Johnstone, Clinical Nurse Manager on 07775 227124 or andrea.johnstone@borders.scot.nhs.uk
