We are looking to appoint a Senior Cancer Performance Analyst to join our Cancer Services Team.

You will be a key member of the Cancer Services Team supporting the Cancer Performance Manager, Lead Clinician and Lead Cancer Nurse. You will be the system owner for two Cancer Services systems, Somerset and RMS. Along with your degree level education, you must have senior experience of data analysis and reporting as you will manage the Trust wide Cancer Information System, reporting cancer waiting times performance, reporting to national audits (including the Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset (COSD) and analysing data returns to provide information on cancer patient journeys as well as being responsible for the quality and security of Cancer Services data and write queries using SQL. The ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels of the organisation is essential. You will also be responsible for the Cancer Performance Analyst.

Role Summary

The post holder will lead the corporate cancer data team to provide robust and high quality data analytics, supporting managers and staff across the trust with a breadth and depth of analysis to optimise cancer services and improve cancer performance.

The post holder will use their specialist subject knowledge and experience to apply a range of analytical methods to cancer specific data, for national, regional and internal submission.

They are expected to take a proactive approach to providing advice on the national Cancer Waiting Times Guidance, explaining complex concepts, and presenting cancer data to a range of audiences in a clear and accessible manner.

They are responsible for maintaining high quality data information systems and ensure provision of reliable data modelling, and cancer data training to the wider trust.

Ensure that any new system / upgrades to systems affecting cancer services are tested thoroughly.

Ensure the functionality of IT systems are utilised to maximise the benefits to users and support the delivery of effective cancer MDT meetings

Cancer Services provides a Corporate service for monitoring the Trust’s performance with the mandated Cancer Waiting Times standards. The team consists of Urgent Appointment Booking Clerks, Cancer Pathway Coordinators, Cancer Data Analysts and other related roles. The team is based in Mytton Oak House on the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site. The team works closely with clinical and operational teams delivering care to cancer patients.
