Senior CAD Draughtsperson | Colnbrook, London | Full Time | £35,000 - £40,000 +, negotiable depending on experienceHUX is a market-leading joinery specialist that creates bespoke cabinetry, furniture, and premium bespoke kitchens, with their own 15,000 sqft workshop based in Colnbrook, close to Heathrow.The company has an excellent opportunity for an experienced joinery draughtsman to head up their technical design team.If you are ambitious, motivated, passionate about design and have a positive working attitude then this is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-growing and highly acclaimed joinery outfit.This role requires a creative flair and technical skills. The company work for a wide variety of high-end contractors and interior design clients, and their briefs are generally to turn their concept images and drawings into a cost-effective reality.Are you the right person for the job?
  • Joinery and furniture manufacture design role: min of 5 years (required)
  • Practical hands-on experience in joinery and furniture production and/or CNC programming is desirable
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and communication skills
  • A thorough approach and attention to detail
  • Proven experience in mentoring junior designers
  • Experience with the following software packages: AutoCAD or similar 3D Design Software, Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, etc) and Cabinet Vision. Experience of Cabinet Vision is highly desirable
  • Understanding of workshop equipment, tooling, and machinery
  • Furniture Design Degree or similar desirable
  • Commercial awareness and time-management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Positive working attitude
  • Passionate about design
  • Willingness to learn and continually develop skills
What will your role look like?
  • Manage a small team of 2 junior technical designers (in-house) and 1 more senior remote worker
  • Translate concept drawings or visuals into shop drawings for manufacture and concept sign-off, principally using Cabinet Vision (AutoCAD or similar in some instances for highly bespoke pieces)
  • Produce drawings to the appropriate level of detail (including specialist materials) for manufacture
  • Work one on one with sales designers to advise on the best construction methods, material choices and technical design aspects
  • Co-ordinate ordering of specialist materials with procurement i.e. metalwork and ironmongery
  • Ensure deadlines are met and designs are produced efficiently
  • Work with the sales designers to produce detailed specifications for procurement, manufacture and client sign off
