Our client’s procurement team manage a purchase order book in the region of 4 million GBP across a team of 4 staff. Around 80% of the materials purchased are electronic components, the balance includes raw PCBs, BTO metal/plastic enclosures, cables, services and consumables.

For this senior role, we require someone who has a deep understanding of the electronics supply chain market. A tenacious individual who can adopt ownership and provide considered improvements within our process as we expand our operation.

Duties To Include (but Not Limited To)
  • Raising orders for PCBA build projects through to batch production orders
  • Manging multiple projects to obtain materials to meet fixed production build plans, whilst ensuring expenditure is within the planned budget
  • Working within an MRP environment, enacting works orders, BOM changes ECNs
  • Prepare material costing/quotations in line with customer requirements using Excel/ERP/MRP
  • Creating detailed part numbers and multi-level BOM’s
  • Manging drawings and issue-controlled documents to place RFQ’s and raise purchase orders for BTO items
  • Managing scheduled orders for medium volume production, based on forecasted production builds
  • Engaging and managing suppliers for price negotiation, delivery and supply terms
  • Searching new suppliers and cost agreements
  • Working with ITAR, obsolescence, life cycle, permits, ECR’s and technical queries direct with customers
  • Assisting in purchasing reviews for products and commodities
  • Value engineering at PCBA project level, including cost down projects
  • Deputising for the purchasing manager
  • Working with the purchasing manager to continuously review internal processes and create opportunities for measured improvement

Required Skills
  • Minimum 5 years purchasing experience and 3 years within a similar role
  • Understanding of resistor and capacitor values
  • Full understanding of the electronic component distribution market
  • Excellent IT Skills, particularly MS Excel
  • Excellent communication skills with customers and suppliers
  • Ability to problem solve and provide technical support
  • Experience of stock control/MRP systems
