Job summary

ReAssure, part of Phoenix Group are recruiting a Senior Accountant to support ongoing financial year end process including the audit and the preparation of the Financial Statements we are looking for an accountant with strong external audit experience to join the Finance Function . The position will be based in Telford on a fixed term contract basis. This vacancy represents an opportunity to join one of Telfords largest employers, within an ever changing environment where you will discover the potential to perform and grow.

In this role as Senior Accountant, you will be responsible the project management elements of the year end process, liaising with senior stakeholders across the company to promote an effective and efficient audit process. You will also use your technical accounting skills to resolve queries and issues as they arise.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project management of the year end audit process;
  • Acting as key liaison point between the company and the external auditors ;
  • Scheduling year-end review and progress meetings between the external auditors and relevant departments and monitoring the progress of action points;
  • Co-ordinate the submission of year end papers to relevant committees and boards and manage the sign off process;
  • Draft and review financial statements and related disclosure notes. Resolve audit queries by either amending as appropriate disclosure notes or supplying supplementary information as requested;
  • Suport the year end reporting to Phoenix Group in line with Group reporting deadlines

Key skills/experience required:

  • Qualified accountant with 5 years experience in a finance role;
  • Extensive experience of audit work, preferably gained in a large audit firm
  • Experience of project management
  • Good knowledge of financial reporting standards and IFRS Life Company Reporting; and
  • Experience/knowledge in financial services reporting, ideally to include experience of working in insurance.
