Job Title: Senior Accountant – Professional Services

Department: Shared Services

Reporting to: Commercial Director

Role Purpose

We’ve all heard accountants describe themselves as “not your typical accountant” but a lot of the time, their working practices are very similar. We are doing things differently here by being disruptive in our ways of working. We consider ourselves “colleagues of our clients”, not just their accountant. This allows us to break down the perceived barriers by taking the time to understand their day-to-day operations and seek to ensure we add value to them daily.

We are looking for our next star recruit to join our ever-growing team. Ideally, they would be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, with 2 years post qualified experience. But we would also love to speak to those in the industry for 7+ years that might not have qualifications.

We have a varying client base, from small sole traders to large multinational companies and would love to provide this amazing personal development and growth opportunity to somebody that is willing to get involved in all aspects of accountancy and would like to grow their own portfolio of clients.

This client facing role will be split 75% reviewing and 25% preparing, and the candidate should be comfortable with providing on the job training for more junior members of the team (as part of the review and feedback process), as well as be on hand to give technical guidance. Whilst there is no line management responsibility initially, there is scope for this role to take on line reports as our business continues to grow.

Key Accountabilities

o Reviewing and preparing the following:

o Statutory accounts and tax computations

o Tax returns of individuals and partnerships

o Limited company accounts

o Bookkeeping

o CIS returns

o Management accounts (review only)

o P11Ds

o Self-assessment

o Sole trades/partnerships

o VAT

Skills and Knowledge

- Ability to develop and maintain client relations. Ensure a high level of service to meet client expectations.

- Qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or qualified by experience.

- Experience with cloud software such as Xero and SAGE

- Ability to think on their feet and challenge the status quo.

- Open to and encouraging of change.

- Strong attention to detail

- Able to train colleagues on a technical level.

- Desire to build strong client relationships.

Location

This role is office-based, but could be split over our two offices – 3 days per week in Denby and 2 days per week in Castle Donington, or more in Denby if that candidate preferred.
