Job overview

To lead projects within an account, working collaboratively on client solutions with the account lead (Senior Account Director/Associate Director/Director). Lead the project team, recognising their value and using all talents of the account executives (AE/SAE), medical writers (MW; internal and external) and/or scientific advisor (SA) and support functions. To oversee the delivery of excellence in all aspects of client service, including work being delivered on time, on brief and budget, and upholding the values of Highfield.


Responsibilities and duties

Results and delivery

  • Ensure a clear brief is received from the client and disseminated to the internal team
  • Deliver projects to the brief and within scope and budget
  • Co-ordinate the resources required to successfully deliver the account’s project(s), flagging where additional resources are required to deliver projects successfully
  • Allocate and support the team on the roles and responsibilities assigned
  • Ensure client deadlines and proactively manage with the client if unrealistic
  • Generate draft content of project materials, as appropriate to role and project, for review by MW, SA and/or Director
  • Build strong effective relationships with the clients and external thought leaders
  • Oversee and support the AE/SAE/AM on materials they develop
  • Brief and review freelance design and digital work to be client-ready
  • Ensure processes for reviewing materials are adhered to
  • Proactively consider any problems that may arise when managing programmes and flag these to the account leads and or client where appropriate and make suggestions to overcome these
  • Ensure the team follow compliance procedures, e.g. GDPR and pharmaceutical codes of practice
  • Ensure compliance to all processes and Highfield house style
  • Ensure client and internal project team meetings occur regularly, and that project status reports, schedules and client agendas are completed on time
  • Develop budgets for review with the account lead
  • Ensure all projects are reconciled accurately and invoiced on time
  • Forecast projects accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ensure all finance tracking is adhered to
  • Be involved in new business RFPs, pitches and research
  • Be available for domestic and international travel when the project requires onsite support

  • Mentor new AMs, SAEs and AEs who join the company
  • Communicate effectively with team members across the company in all departments and internal project team
  • Communicate proactively and professionally with clients, thought leaders and other external stakeholders

Qualifications and experience

Education

  • Ideally educated to graduate level or above or bring extensive project management experience

Experience and skills

  • At least five years’ experience within medical communications
  • Ability to lead client accounts
  • Leadership
  • Organised with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive and enthusiastic
  • Competent in MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
