A Special Educational Needs School in Thatcham,Berkshire are seeking experienced Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants to support students with high functioning Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties. Are you committed to improving the quality of learning for SEN students? Do you know how to effectively work with students that have Autism and challenging behaviour? If so, a Special Educational Needs Secondary School located in Thatcham need YOU! This wonderfully diverse Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ SEN School, currently seeking experienced Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants to support students with high functioning Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties. The students at the SEN School are aged between 8 – 19 years old and are bright, bubbly and eager to learn in their warm, friendly school environment. The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will be confident in:
  • Using PECS and Makaton effectively to encourage communication
  • Working with students who have Autism
  • Providing personal care
  • Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Providing classroom support to Class Teacher and other support staff
  • Delivering an excellent quality of learning
  • Liaising with parents and other members of staff
  • Proactively encouraging students to engage in lessons It is preferred but not essential that SEN TA’s have Autism Awareness and Team Teach training. This is a highly rewarding role at a lovely SEN School for the right individual with a wholehearted interest in working as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to support students with complex learning needs.
