Reed Education are looking for experienced SEND Teaching Assistants within Cornwall, with passion, commitment, and resilience to support students in local SEND Secondary schools across Plymouth.

Ideally you will have already worked in a similar role or have experience supporting Children with special educational needs and disabilities. And ideally, a Recognised Teaching Assistant Qualification (although not mandatory).

You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and supporting children with their development and learning. Your role will include:

  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups within classroom settings and the community
  • Providing care and enabling access to learning for all pupils
  • Carrying out pupil’s support programmes
  • Personal Care to the students
  • Assisting the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

Suitable applicants must have:

  • An enhanced valid DBS on the update system.
  • Must have enthusiasm, commitment, and determination to develop student’s education.
  • Versatility/open-mindfulness - as no two days are the same!
  • Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Experience supporting pupils within a school or care environment.
  • Have a clear understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Ability to create and maintain nurturing relationships with young people.
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning.
  • Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners is important.
  • Have a flexible approach and a high level of creativity
