The Norwich Bioscience Institutes Partnership (NBIP) has an exciting opportunity for two Semi-Skilled Maintenance Operatives to join their busy Facilities department.

Background:

The Norwich Bioscience Institutes are a cluster of internationally renowned research organisations, working to tackle major challenges of the 21st Century – the sustainability of our environment, our food supplies and healthy ageing.

The NBI Partnership provides high quality, non-scientific support services for the diverse community of staff, students and visiting workers at the Institutes (the Earlham Institute, John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory and Quadram Institute Bioscience) and for the NBI Partnership.

Based on the Norwich Research Park amongst 230 hectares of parkland, you will be joining a committed, professional and welcoming team. In addition, you will enjoy a competitive salary and annual leave, our defined contribution pension scheme, excellent recreational facilities and a range of other employee benefits.

The Facilities team’s main function is to manage the estate, ensuring that all assets are properly maintained and compliant with relevant statutory obligations and best practice guidelines. Facilities staff are also responsible for soft facilities management, including security, reception, cleaning and caretaking and catering facilities.

The role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to support three world class science institutes by helping to provide an effective Facilities service.

The successful candidate will assist the mechanical, electrical and building services tradesmen in the provision of reactive and planned maintenance tasks. They will also directly deliver a handyman service for tasks which do not require a professional qualification and low-level security services as required for the John Innes Centre, The Earlham Institute and The Sainsbury Laboratory.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a flexible working approach, a working knowledge of mechanical or electrical plant, equipment and/or building services. They will have recently worked within a building or facilities related team environment. Good knowledge of relevant health and safety procedures would be ideal. A clean UK driving licence is essential, although reasonable adjustments will be considered for candidates with a disability.
