An exciting opportunity exists for SIA qualified Security Shift Leaders to join the Security team at the University of Northampton. The primary purpose of the Campus Security and Community Safety Team is to provide a highly visible, efficient, friendly, pro-active and responsive security service to all persons associated with the University of Northampton.

Delivering operational leadership to a team of Security and Community Safety Officers whilst managing set objectives designed to develop and motivate staff and add value to the overall operation. They will ensure effective support is provided to the Campus Security and Community Safety team to enable fulfilment of their operations.

You’ll be working a 12 hour, 4 on 4 off, days and nights shift pattern, over an averaged 42 hours a week. Full training will be provided to the right candidates. Primarily based at the new Waterside campus but may have to work at any of our sites.

About you

Ideally qualified to Certificate in Security Management level or equivalent and experienced in the education sector, you should possess excellent customer service skills. Previous Security and leadership experience is also an advantage and your ability to communicate effectively, whether verbal or non-verbal should be excellent. You can and will be asked to work at any University site, so you will need to demonstrate your flexibility.

You will provide operational support by leading the shift including control room daily operations and provide support to the Duty Security Manager in areas of security, incident management, health and safety, HR, administration, resources and client relationships.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • SIA door supervisor licence
  • SIA CCTV Operative Licence (or to be obtained during probation period) Any costs associated with obtaining a SIA licence will not be covered by the employer
  • First Aid at Work Certificate (or to be obtained during probation period)

Desirable:

  • Certificate in Security Management or equivalent qualification

Security and Community Safety

Whilst fulfilling the usual remit of a Security Department. The Campus Security and Community Safety department at the University has a focus on the Student experience and Customer service.
