The University is seeking full time permanent security professionals to join our excellent and well respected in-house security and portering team, providing overnight weekday and 24-hour weekend security cover through a rotating shift pattern. The role is key to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for the University community, through the protection of people, property and assets. The role will be based primarily at the Newport campus. The majority of the role will be security based, although from time to time the successful applicant will need to take on other duties including some portering tasks.

The successful applicant will be a responsible, experienced and credible security professional who will work to a high standard. They will need to work both as part of the security and portering team as well as with limited supervision using their initiative. They will operate with integrity, discretion and honesty when dealing with sensitive issues. The successful applicant will have experience of working on campus sites in a University or Further Education environment. They will have good knowledge of the operation of radios, CCTV, acces control and incident management software.

The successful applicant must have good communication skills, be an excellent ambassador for the University and provide an excellent customer service experience to staff, students, visitors and members of the public. A good knowledge of law and offenses relating to security as well as health and safety legislation relevant to security activities is a benefit.
