Overall purpose:

To ensure the safety and security of the court premises, property, staff and visitors, including the observance and adherence to fire precautions and to assist in providing an effective and efficient security service with a strong emphasis on the quality of service provided.

Key responsibilities:

Patrol the premises at regular intervals in accordance with instructions and training to provide a viable presence, prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates. To record relevant information as specified by agreed laid procedures.

Monitor and authorise the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of persons and premises. This will include the operation of detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles, the management of access control and CCTV system.

Keep an accurate record of lost and found property and property handed over by visitors to collect on leaving the building.

Be responsible for ensuring the buildings are open and closed at specified times and meetings/court rooms are set up to requirements. This could include minor moves and the checking and removal of confidential waste bins.

Ensure the site key register is properly managed.

Be responsible for booking on site and site induction of all contractors.

Ensure the car park is always secure and well gritted during winter weather conditions.

Respond instantly to reports of theft, loss, violent incidents, and alarms, undertaking preliminary investigations and contacting the police where appropriate.

Respond to reports of untoward incidents, disturbances, and challenge intruders on the site according to agreed procedures and policies. Challenge rule violation and when necessary, apprehend or evict violators, using force only when necessary and within the law.

Complete accurate incident reports, records and all other documentation in a timely manner bringing them to the attention of the line manager as required.

Be constantly alert for any potential fire/safety risk and in conjunction with the line manager, take appropriate preventative action as directed which may include alerting the emergency services.

To attend training courses as directed. To be in possession of the relevant SIA (Security Industry Authority) Badge and to ensure it is renewed when necessary.

Job description:

To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and to wear a uniform as directed. Personal hygiene is important.

Contractual Responsibilities:

· Confidentiality:The post holder must maintain confidentiality, security and integrity of information relating to the buildings and its staff and visitors.

· Health and Safety: All staff must be familiar with company Health and Safety policy.

Qualifications and experience:

- Ability to read and write English, with a good level of spoken English.
- Qualification in Security Guarding or Door Supervisor Level 2.
- Qualification in Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) Level 2.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, employees, and teams at all levels.
