We are looking for two Security Officers to join our Security Team within the Library’s Estates Department. The posts are 8-hour, day shift based on a Monday to Friday work pattern. The part time position would share a post with another part time member of staff.


The Team is responsible for a diverse number of activities which support the safety and security of Colleagues, Library users, the buildings, and the Collections of the National Library of Scotland. The Team is also instrumental in dealing with extraordinary events both of a Security and Safety nature that require an immediate response.


What we are looking for-


We are looking for people who are great team players but can also work with minimum supervision if required. You will be a demonstrably honest and reliable person and be flexible in your approach to work and be comfortable with change. Previous experience of security work would be an advantage as would understanding health and safety and fire safety issues, along with possessing a willingness to learn and be open to new ideas.

You should hold a driving license and either have a First Aid certificate or agree to work towards gaining one in your first year with us. You will be proficient with software such as Office 365 and other computer-based systems.
