Overall Purpose Of The Role

The main purpose of this role is to lead the Campus Support Officers across the 3 Campuses and the Mobile Support Officer to ensure that we provide a safe environment for staff and students and direct resource as required to relevant locations as driven by CCTV viewing, incident and alarm activations and other inputs into the Control Room.

Main Duties
  • To adhere to the company’s policies and procedures and follow instructions as listed in the Assignment instructions
  • To ensure that all Officers are on duty at their designated locations as per the rota. Making sure that sites are covered in priority order and additional support is requested from our Relief Officers, available team members or Agency Companies as required. Escalate to the Campus Support Manager with details of the outcome - if there is an issue on attendance.
  • To provide accurate incident information to agreed standards and procedures, enabling security incidents to be dealt with safely and appropriately by the Officers attending incidents. Creating incident messages and logs, keeping a chronological accurate record of the actions taken during the lifespan of an incident
  • Ensure all records held at Control Room are accurate and up to date I.e. assignment instructions, Key holdings, Mobile visits, For immediate response to emergencies. The Control Room is the first point of contact for alarm monitoring companies, Fire and intruder,
  • To ensure accidents reported to the Control Room are recorded and the information distributed accordingly depending on the nature and severity of the incident.
  • To provide advice, information, guidance or support to help deal with daily issues, to the Campus Support Officers on duty
  • To take out of hours calls diverted from other areas of the University and escalate information appropriately using the procedures provided.
  • Taking out of hours calls from students, members of staff and the public and dealing with, taking messages and escalating accordingly
  • To carry out any other requests deemed reasonable and in keeping with the role of Control Room Officer
  • To direct the team to complete tasks appropriately and to the required standards and to direct resource as required to relevant locations and resources
  • To assess the initial risk and prioritise incidents as they occur, deciding on the initial response. Task other colleagues to provide a response to emergency and other security incidents by following a defined and detailed procedure and escalating to the Campus Support Manager where necessary.
  • To provide visible foot and mobile patrols of the University buildings and estate to reassure staff, students and visitors and deter criminal activity and antisocial behaviour – utilising Trackforce to monitor adherence to patrol requirements.
  • To provide reporting on Patrolling and other activities as requested.
  • To out general administrative and clerical duties, including maintaining and updating manual and computer files and records to an agreed standard. Send and receive emails and generate maintenance requests as required.
  • To carry out other such duties as directed commensurate with the role of security.
  • To deputise for the Campus Support Manager whilst off-site or on annual leave.
To Be Successful In The Role, You Will Need
  • Broad based knowledge of the security industry and associated services. Customer care skills, Previous Control room experience is desirable but not essential
  • SIA CCTV & DS Badges
  • Good Communication skills, Good PC skills and an awareness of Microsoft Word Excel etc.

  • Effective and confident communication and report writing skills. Able to log and evaluate information then action accordingly. Evaluating situations and prioritizing work. Liaising at all levels. IT Knowledge. An eye for detail. Keyboard skills. Good Organizational Skills. Flexible approach to work patterns.
