Oxford Nanopore Technologies is headquartered at the Oxford Science Park outside Oxford, UK, with satellite offices and a commercial presence in many global locations across the US, APAC and Europe. Oxford Nanopore employs from multiple subject areas including nanopore science, molecular biology and applications, informatics, engineering, electronics, manufacturing and commercialisation. The management team, led by CEO Dr Gordon Sanghera, has a track record of delivering disruptive technologies to the market. Oxford Nanopore’s sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis, in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-long read lengths. Our goal is to enable the analysis of any living thing, by anyone, anywhere We are looking for motivated scientist to join the Liquid Biopsy Platform project, striving to bring ONT’s sequencing technology to the point of care. You will play an active role in the development of our integrated sample-to-answer devices. Reporting to the project lead, you will be tasked with the running of sequencing experiments and corresponding data analysis. You will take part in the assembly of the new devices (integrating raw sample input and sequencing), as well as contributing to the development of these precesses. You will also participate in the validation and integration of new sequencing chemistries. The details The purpose of our liquid biopsy platforms is to enable the analysis of samples directly from complex biological fluids, such as blood and saliva. This powerful capability will allow the adoption of our nanopore sensing technology by a much broader group of healthcare professionals, eventually leading to a line of consumer products. As part of the team, you will play a key role in the development of flowcell-integrated processes to deliver analytes to our nanopore sensor array. This will require close collaboration with a highly multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers. Your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Hands-on planning and running of experiments
  • Participate in the assembly of platform prototypes
  • Test and characterise new sequencing chemistries
  • Data analysis and performance evaluation
  • Detailed reporting and clear communication of results
  • Provide feedback to the chemistry and platform design teams What we’re looking for We are looking someone with a degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, or similar. Experience with biological sample handling and DNA extraction are vital to this role. Familiarity with DNA sequencing technologies is highly desirable. We will expect you to be an enthusiastic individual with a creative approach to problem solving and excellent attention to detail. You will be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and in close collaboration with others. The multidisciplinary nature of the project requires the successful candidate to be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner with colleagues within the team and across the company. This role will suit someone with a drive to achieve results and who is motivated to impact a key area of development in our fast-paced organisation. We offer outstanding benefits to include an attractive bonus, generous pension contributions, private healthcare and an excellent starting salary.
