Job Title: Science Laboratory Technician

Employment Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Position (Rest of Academic Year)

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM - 4:15 PM, Term Time Only

Compensation: Competitive Hourly Rate (£12.50 - £14.50, Based on Experience)

An innovative school located in Kensington & Chelsea is in search of a Science Technician to join their team immediately. While prior experience in a school Science department is preferred, we warmly welcome applications from candidates with laboratory experience or recent science graduates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and conduct safety checks in science labs and preparation rooms.
  • Prepare, maintain, and securely store equipment for practical demonstrations and experiments.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks in laboratories and rooms, including equipment upkeep and maintaining work surfaces.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment in the laboratories and preparation rooms.
  • Efficiently manage stock levels, order necessary materials, and safely handle hazardous chemicals and substances.
  • Construct and repair apparatus for general or demonstration purposes.
  • Mitigate laboratory risks and administer initial first aid following school protocols.
  • Assist in classroom activities by setting up visual and auditory aids for science classes.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a laboratory or scientific setting.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Health & Safety procedures within laboratory environments.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
