Job Role - Science Lead / Project Manager

Position Summary:

The Project Manager will work within the Warrington technical operations team, managing and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously. They will lead the introduction of new products, site to site transfers, and sustaining engineering projects. They will ensure all infrastructure and documentation is in place in order that high quality products can be made in accordance with the agreed timelines. They will complete the Product Commercialization Process (PCP) with deliverables on behalf of the manufacturing site. Represent the manufacturing site at project core team meetings and co-ordinate local project teams to ensure the required deliverables and actions are completed on time. They will contribute to implementation of process developments to increase quality, efficiency, and productivity. Stay on top of routine production issues and schedules to assess any factors that could impact successful transfer of new products and develop plans and timelines to mitigate such problems.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and write new product documentation and seek QA and manufacturing input. Review and write deliverables for project checkpoints. Set up and review infrastructure for all projects being handled. Arrange regular manufacturing readiness reviews to assess readiness and complete action items to facilitate smooth transfers and robust processes.

Ensure new products, site to site transfers, and sustaining engineering projects are compliant with site Quality Manual System and represent the NPI function in internal and external audits.

Communicate with workstreams to ensure that there is resource for new projects, and to help co-ordinate project timeline requirements. Communicate new projects benefits and timelines to site and external stakeholders.

Promotes continuous improvement on site, embracing lean principles, applying tools such as PPI, 5S and KANBAN. Considers NPIs and transfers with lean principles in mind and recommend or implement process improvements where possible.

Responsible for supporting and complying with safety standards and hazardous waste management program including following safe hazardous waste handling and good housekeeping. Ensures and maintains clean, orderly and safety laboratory work areas.

Communicates daily with Manufacturing, Quality, Planning, Material Handling, Warehouse, Global technical transfer teams, and program management.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Experience handling multiple projects or priorities.
  • Experience problem solving, removing barriers, and collaborating with cross functional teams.
  • Confident using MS Office/Project packages for document writing and planning timelines.
  • Relevant science qualification with experience leading projects OR prior experience as a Project Manager within a scientific manufacturing environment

Desirable:

  • Broad understanding of manufacturing supply chains and processes
  • Knowledge of PCR chemistry and DNA preparation technologies for application in commercial products.
  • Experience in lean thinking and application of principles.
